HURON, SD – September 3, 2026 – On the advice of a four-time World Champion, Evan Morrison selected an unfamiliar bull for his final, winning performance in the Shoot Out round at the Red Wilk Construction Tuff Hedeman Bull Bash on Thursday night in Huron, South Dakota.

Riding three previously unknown bulls, Evan Morrison of Whitesboro, Texas, fought to the very last jump to edge out Ednelio Rodrigues by two points. The gritty performance earned Morrison the iconic Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash buckle, ultimate bragging rights, and a $16,875 winner's check from Tuff Hedeman on night two of the legendary event. Rodrigues took home a $10,125 check for his impressive runner-up finish.
The next-generation cowboy reflected on his major win in front of a packed house, which included highly decorated American military war heroes being honored at the event.

“I didn’t know any of my bulls tonight," Morrison said. "The first one was a little difficult in the bucking chute, but when we burst out, he was good and I just kept spurring. My second bull, from Danny Mason, spun well to the left—away from my hand. He worked me the whole time but carried me right into the four-man Shoot Out round.”
Morrison was a perfect 2-for-2 by intermission and immediately turned to stock contractor and legend Tuff Hedeman for advice on selecting his final bull.
“Tuff helped me pick," Morrison explained. "I wanted a bull that went to the right. I asked him which one had the best timing, and he told me the big black bull—K221 Captain—would fit my style best. He was absolutely right, and we turned in a 91-point ride for the win.”
Round 1 Highlights
Bryce Redo celebrate with Brennan Polito, Henderson, Texas
Brennon Polito set the pace in the opening round, delivering a crowd thrilling 90-point ride on #33 Texas Slim from Knapp Bucking Bulls. Ednelio Rodrigues followed closely with an 89.5-point ride on #200 Husky (Harris Bucking Bulls), matching Rafael Santos, who also posted an 89.5-point score on #45 Colt (Triple C). Morrison rounded out the four qualified rides of the opening round with an 87-point effort on #239 Giddy Up (JQH Bucking Bulls).
Round 2
The bulls asserted their dominance in the semifinal round, allowing only two qualified rides. The battle for the highest average score intensified between Ednelio Rodrigues and Evan Morrison after opening-round leader Brennon Polito bucked off early. Rodrigues and Morrison were the only two riders to make the whistle, posting scores of 90.5 points on #969 Boogie Man (Burruss Bucking Bulls) and 87 points on #239 Giddy Up (JQH Bucking Bulls), respectively.
The Shoot Out Round
Under Tuff Hedeman’s format, the qualifiers for the final four round were determined by the highest averages. Ednelio Rodrigues led the pack with 180 points on two bulls, closely followed by Evan Morrison with 175 points on two. Polito and LaVergne were drawn back into the four-man round from score and ride time.

After both LaVergne and Polito bucked off their respective bulls, the Shoot Out turned into a true head-to-head duel. Morrison took his time in the chutes, taking several wraps before K221 Captain settled. The patience paid off, as he posted a rock-solid 91-point ride.
As the event leader, Rodrigues rode last. He endured the pressure of watching Morrison post the high score knowing exactly what he needed to beat. Ultimately, Rodrigues fell just short with an 89-point ride, sealing the event victory for Morrison.
Bull Team Challenge
Scott Burruss Bucking Bulls captured the Night 2 title of the Tuff Hedeman Bull Team Challenge in Huron, anchored by Rodrigues's spectacular 90.5-point semifinal ride on #969 Boogie Man. Quickly earning the nickname MVBB (Most Valuable Bucking Bull) at the Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash, #969 has a rich history of carrying riders to the winner's circle in Huron. At the 2025 Bull Bash, Noah Lee rode him for 91 points to secure the title, and just one night prior, Evan Morrison rode him for 90 points to tie the round.
Backing up the winning Burruss team with strong, consistent bull scores were B15 Gold Nugget, who earned an 87-point bull score in Round 1, 1021 Louisiana Man, secured an 87.5-point bull score in the semifinal round.
