HURON, S.D. — Sept. 2, 2026 - An eight-second ride could earn one lucky cowboy a $10,000 reward this Wednesday night at the South Dakota State Fair. Four-time World Champion Tuff Hedeman returns to Huron for his annual event with an incredible lineup of premier bull riders and one special bull named Bad News from Conway, Arkansas and Scott Burruss Bucking Bulls.
Hedeman had this to say about his signature “ride for the cash” on the opening night of the fair:
“This is a great opportunity for a cowboy. This bull is not easy, but he is rideable. He has bucked off some of the best in the business. I am looking forward to a terrific matchup, and I would like nothing better than to sign that $10,000 check!”
Bad News is described as a bull with the conformation—or "build," as the cowboys say—that allows a rider to stay centered. However, those who have seen him offer a more detailed review. One stock contractor described him as a “buck-smart” athlete who lets the rider get comfortable before cranking up the intensity to secure the win
Bad News has added several distinguished notches to his flank strap this year. His recent successes include bucking off National Finals Rodeo qualifiers Dustin Boquet at Cheyenne Frontier Days, Tyler Taylor at Fort Worth, and Rawley Johnson and "Colorado Kid" Mackey at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
This year’s roster includes riders from 11 states and two international competitors. While it is anyone’s guess who will draw the Bounty Bull tonight, one thing is certain: you won't want to miss it.
Tickets for the Red Wilk Construction Tuff Hedeman Bull Bash start at $15 for youth and $25 for adults.
